More information on our Workforce Development Efforts

The Georgia Avenue Business District Corporation (GABIDDC) partners with the BSF and other organizations to help families locate Financial Aid for educational funding and workforce Programming.

Workforce Innovation And Opportunity Act

This agenda is intentionally designed to be in line with the WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT. It’s purpose was:

“improve the workforce system, align it with regional economies and strengthen the network of about 2,500 American Job Centers [around the country], to deliver more comprehensive services to workers, job seekers and employers.” [https://www.doleta.gov/WIOA/]

The act further provides that:

“The Department of Labor (DOL), in coordination with the U.S. Departments of Education (ED) and Health and Human Services (HHS), is working diligently to ensure that states, local areas, other grantees, and stakeholders are prepared for the implementation of WIOA. The WIOA Resource Page provides information and resources for States, local areas, non-profits and other grantees, and other stakeholders to assist with implementation of the Act.” [WIOA]
