Walter Reed Development is a major project that will affect the upper Georgia Ave community for years to come. Gabiddc hopes to provide business and job opportunities for DC residents and specifically ward 4 residents through workforce training and job placement. In
“in 2005, the Federal government declared 62.5 acres on the main post of WRAMC in northwest Washington, DC as surplus property, thereby making it available to a local redevelopment authority (LRA) for re-use. As part of this process, the Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) must prepare a plan for reuse of the site in order to acquire a portion of the site for local use.
GABIDDC is involved in efforts to guide that development in a way that will meet the needs of District Residents. Our vision is of an inclusive and collaborative relationship aiming at the common good of all the people living, working or involved with the future Georgia Avenue Business Improvement District. In January our CEO, Mike Jackson testified on the importance of Workforce Development before the District Government.
Georgia Avenue Partnership
To accomplish that vision we are estabishing a “Georgia Avenue Partership” in partnership with Hines and Urban Atlantic, Emory Beacon of light and the University of the District of Columbia/ Architectural Research Institute as Charter Members.
We are looking for your support in this endeavor and want to thank everyone working on this with us.
