The Georgia Avenue Business Improvement & Development Corporation, (GABIDDC) was incorporated as a District of Columbia not-for-profit organization in 2011, as a community-based organization, to serve Ward 4, including Georgia Avenue running from the corners of Georgia and Missouri Avenues, NW, northward to “the Gateway,” inclusively. The Gateway lies at the corners of Eastern and Georgia Avenues, NW. This area has historically been stable, but the closure of the Walter Reed military base has removed an economically important anchor of the neighborhood. We were approved under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Civil Code on April 23 2015, and you can read a copy of the approval letter here: [IRS_Approval501c3.pdf]
From GABIDDCs inception, the organization has focused its projects, efforts and programs in the Ward 4 neighborhoods and communities. Our missions include workforce training and development, serving the Georgia Avenue Business District community and ensuring thatthe redevelopment of Walter Reed is done in the community interest. We also provide direct services to DC and Washington Metropolitan area residents in the areas of bio-hazard testing.
